AMV Release

After trying out a few more softwares, I've decided to reencode a few of the previous music videos and upload them to Mediafire. The encodes are of x264 encoding in mkv container, with 2 audio tracks (instrumental and vocal) and 2 subtitles (romaji and kanji).

Finally I'm getting the hang of timing karaoke. Hopefully the timing isn't off by a lot. Without further ado, here's the links to the MVs.

Upcoming MVs,
The brilliant green - Ash Like Snow (Gundam 00 OP2)
FictionJunction YUUKA - Honoo no Tobira (Gundam Seed Destiny Insert Song)
Tommy heavenly6 - Pray (Gintama OP)

Chiaki Ishikawa - Prototype

My third karaoke MV to date. Now I'm getting used to timing, it's time to work on the font styling. Tried looking at the source code for some reference karaoke templates but went crazy trying to understand the alien language...

Anyway, this is the ending song for Gundam 00 second season. One of the newer songs that I like :P Luckily the MV's audio stream can be totally replaced by the album's vocal and instrumental audio tracks... if not..... I'll just faint, just like when I wanted to make the karaoke MV for PSI missing....totally out of sync...

For those who're interested in the original file, here's the url: TBA

L'Arc~en~Ciel - Shine

Here's the second karaoke file that I made. This time I made it using 2 audio tracks in avi container, one with vocals and the other without. Any L'Arc~en~Ciel fans who wants it can get from me :P

For those who want the original file, you can get it here TBA

Bolt

Went to watch the movie with my brother, Alvin, and his brother yesterday afternoon. The beginning is like... OMG the dog so overpowered. Almost fainted when they revealed that it's just a movie shoot....

The movie actually sets me thinking of several things... Being kept in a world of your own, believing that your host (in this case, Penny) is constantly under danger, not knowing that i's all a farce. It kinds of sum up how I've been leading my life in the past, where I've always in my own elite environment where everyone's doing so well. My social circle consisting of all the high achievers etc., and I don't have to make any decisions for myself, my future. Now that I'm thrown into NUS, things starts to open up to me. I start to realise the world is not about just myself. To be honest, I would like to believe in the good in all the people I've known. But reality tells me otherwise, especially those insurance agents who only find you when they think you've got money to invest in their policies....

I think it's very pitiful for someone to not know the exact situation around him/her. The total absence of timely information makes me insecure. Maybe that's why I tend to be very "auntie" and "kay poh". Or maybe, just maybe, it's 职业病. No information = no need to dispense. LOL.

Overall, it's a great movie, with deep underlying moral values to be learned. Highly recommended for parents looking for educational movies.

P.S. Although most probably the children can't understand the underlying message... That's what the parents are for isn't it?

Flow - World End

I've nothing better to do over the holidays so I ended up doing some subbing for music videos. Haha I spent like 2 days just to sub one 4 mins worth of MV... and the lyrics doesn't really sync as well as I wanted it to be. But anyway, here's the link for anyone that's interested.

JLPT

Been rather lazy to update, especially during exams. This semester had been quite hectic, with tests and tests and tests weeks after weeks. Surprisingly, this is also the semester which I din update my blog a lot of times during exams =P

Just chionged from EXPO to Bukit Timah for my JLPT, the test was kinda, weird. At least I know I couldn't get full marks haha. There goes my dream of being the 6 in 150000+ people... Well, I'm rather thankful for NUS's Japanese teachers for making our listening q uizzes so fast that most of the NUS people I met thinks that JLPT 4's listening is playing at half the speed of what we usually get :P Hope I can get the results I want this semester *crosses fingers

Translation Notes

Alright, got people complain I haven't provide translation for the previous post, so here it is.

"Today's the last TC class. We had a debate. Before the class, the whole class made the thank you card for Fujii sensei together. Because Xuan De's late, we ended up entering the class at 4.05pm. Fujii sensei had already prepared the place for debate. Then, we gave the thank you card to Fujii sensei and she became very happy. We're happy too. After that, we had the debate and followed by a photo session with Fujii sensei.

Fujii sensei, (we've) really received a lot of help from you. Really thank you for that. Take good care of your body, work hard, and be healthy always."

Well, it's kinda a direct translation so don't bomb me for the literal meanings. It's not easy to make the context flow with my limited japanese language....

And today I tried to cook a more wholesome meal, with vegetables, beans, meat, egg, and milk :P The 小白菜looks a bit de er xin coz I put in oyster sauce after heating up the garlic oil... In the end the oil splatter all over the kitchen argh. At least it doesn't taste as bad as it looks haha

MOE rocks!

WOOHOO MOE ROCKS

Got a real surprise there from MOE :P Finally they've decided to up the living allowance for all ASEAN scholars!!!! 35% :P Really wanna thank those people who wrote in to complain about the meagre allowance :P

Besides that, really wanna thank God for this breakthrough, just when Arise and Build is approaching. My prayers have been answered   ~\^o^/~

Deepavali!

Before that, Happy Belated Deepavali to people out there :P

Went back BP for 4 days to slack. To my horror there's so many things left undone and need to be mugged...

25/10/2008
Didn't sleep the night before thanks to Civilisation 4. Caught a bus at 8am to Larkin. Realised the earliest bus back to BP is 12pm... So in the end I took a feeder bus from Larkin to Ayer Hitam before taking another feeder bus back to Batu Pahat. On a side note, who says nobody uses public transport in Johor.... quite a lot of people le... Just that the buses' air con seems like got switch on also no feeling one, super hot!!! But well, HOME SWEET HOME!!!

26/10/2008
Went shopping with my family.. bought super a lot of cans to bring back Singapore so that I can cook, since can food in Malaysia is still cheaper than in Singapore :P Had steamboat at night with super a lot of nice ingredients :P No pictures though.. forgot to bring my camera back home *_*

27/10/2008
Deepavali! Slack the whole day at home sleeping. Father told me to follow him at night for some "dinner" before going out to lateh. In the end the "dinner" became the 十大義演... no food provided, Almost fainted... Then went with him to eat at BP Walk, and he started talking about his secondary school times :P Last time got 2 fails also can get first in class one... how I wish it's the same now haha. Later at night went out with PJ and SW for la teh session at 茶栈, became gundam discussion session >_<>

Update!

Since someone complaint about me not updating my blog, here I am to update haha.

Went out with the emo gang on Friday, so long never chill liao. Great to know that there's always someone there if ever I'll need any :P You guys rocks man.

Went for Usher Ministry trial on sunday, it was fun... but the thought of waking up at 5 am and taking the first train to EXPO is like... Although I'm just a trial, I seem like doing most of the things that an usher in charged of a zone will do le, from arranging chairs, putting bulletins on the chairs, to "fishing" people to fill up gaps.

Jap tutorial was rather weird today, maybe coz I didn't practice before going... Got back my midterm test results, thank God that despite never following instructions, I still pass the paper (coz the one I didn't look at the instructions is like the section with the highest weightage la). Patho and pharmaco to go for the week, I really need a lot of luck and discipline...

Sushi!!!

Tomorrow's Hari Raya Puasa, so I decided to try something that I've never tried before haha. My first time cooking rice, first time making sushi!!! Went Giant to buy some salmon sashimi to go with the sushi. As you can see from the pictures, it looks horrible haha. But at least still eatable.. I think I've put too much water though.. and not enough seasoning for the sushi rice also. There's always first time :P Hopefully the next time I make it'll be much better!
My salmon sushi!

And my tamago maki... notice the super huge size and irregular shape. It reminds me of bacteria....

Fourbidden!

My term from NUSPS finally ended officially yesterday after the bash :P Really want to thank the peeps who made this possible, although I've been slacking all the way through the planning and execution process. The program went on quite smoothly, with little hiccups here and there, but well, I hope overall it's still alright. Feel rather bad over some issues... really didn't expect it to happen... Need to evaluate on com communication with the people outside le...

The people who made this possible!

I was actually quite shocked we need to reprint tickets.... and even after reprinting we got overflow of people at the door... Guess it's a good thing. Hopefully next year will be better...

Sorry Jia Wei and gang for not being able to stay at Phuture with you all... Really very tired, and needed to find money, otherwise I can eat grass le... Mid semester's break is here... I'm trying not to think about the CAs that I'm going to take after that... I just want to go home and don't think of anything... Tiredness can kill...

Studying

I think I really need to start studying and stop doing all the other things I have on hand and might be taken up in the near future... Still getting use to travelling... hopefully I'll be able to get back my studying form as soon as possible... If not really gg liao... Today's pharmaco is a disaster... I know all the mechanisms but forgot all the drug names.... Haih... Bad bad.... Time to wake up...

Bored

Really cannot understand why would people be so bored to spam my tagboard... They should be ashamed of themselves... And don't think I dunno who you are just because you're hiding behind NUS network's IP address....

Today's Jap lecture was quite hard... Really don't know why did I chose to do the module despite knowing that this is going to be the hardest semester of all.... Maybe I really gave up on my core subjects.... Well, who knows, things might get better...

Had Rag & Flag appreciation dinner earlier this evening... eat until really wanna puke haha... Kena niamed again.... Haih.... Just as someone who put it... Maybe I really bo sim.... Still, I'm really bad at showing appreciation... and always forgot some names here and there.... Really need to start eating brain tonics le.... If not dunno how am I supposed to get through the semester....

私は勉強しなければなります!
時間がとてもありません!!!
Argh!!! 大変です!!!

AGM

At last I've stepped down from my NUSPS post. Hopefully it's for the better, that I'll be able to find more time to do other things such as mugging....-_-!

Today's AGM didn't go quite as I've expected. Well, it might be a good thing after all. To those who are elected: Congrats, continue to do great things for NUSPS!

To those that tried but didn't get elected: Don't feel bad. It's not that you're not good, or have no leadership qualities. It just means that there are someone else that are able to convince the crowd more than you do. We don't always have to be at the top to make a difference. We can still contribute through other ways.

-two cents-

Well Done LCW!!!

P.S. I still don't like Lin Dan....

I'm alive, I'm alive!

Ok I'm not dead yet, just in case some of you think that I am. LOL.

Anyway, I've been super busy with rag. It's so busy until I don't even have time to sleep... And people who knows me will know that sleep means everything to me. By everything, I mean EVERYTHING!!!! I'll die if I don't sleep one....

Anyway, after more than 1 month of struggling with responsibilities and building of structures, we've managed to pull off a stunning performance during rag on 080808! Don't believe me? Watch the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWirnkcskOc
I still haven't figure out how to post video....

And this too!!!

Here's us and our alien :P

Year 2 and 3 helpers

Lastly... OUR TANK!!!!

Well done Pharmacy!!! Can't believe that we actually got 2 prizes: Best Performance and OSA Creativity Shield!!! :P Am really relieved that our hard work finally paid off. And someone can't be cocky anymore :P You know I know no need to say out haha. I wanna take this opportunity to thank the year 3s who helped me and the rag exco tide through these tough times, namely Ronald, Raymond, Jian Wei, Jia Wei, Jielin, Choon Pei, Felicia, Baxter, Michelle, Wei Guang, Kelvin, and all those that helped in one way or another :P (Sounds like speech lol) Nonetheless, I thank the exco for being a great support, special mention to Seng Han and Naren, who do a lot of Sai Kang together with me and survived through 72 hours of sleepless days. Last but not least, wanna thank Kai Lun and Sean for dragging me into this year's Rag :)

More photos coming up really soon....

End of Preceptorship

My preceptorship officially ended last Friday, this blog entry a bit overdue =_=!

Throughout the 6 weeks, everyday is something new, and there is always something to learn. Too bad I'm not an active learner, so in the end the amount of things that I have learnt from this preceptorship are quite limited. I'm thankful that my preceptor is kind, just that he's a little bit too busy, coupled with my laziness, in the end I feel that I didn't learn as much as I wanted it to be. Haih... lazy me....

Besides that, I think I'm not giving my preceptor enough credit. I tend to blame others on bad things that happens, but fail to notice the good things that happen, one big bad habit of mine... One funny thing that I've learnt through the preceptorship: Learn how to fake being busy. Haha.

Father's Day!

Went back JB to celebrate Father's Day. Although we say celebrate, actually it's more like my father pay and everyone go eat together haha. In the end it became a family gathering instead, since our family of 6 don't usually meet each other so often since I came to Singapore and my two sisters went out to work.

I reached JB around 11.30 in the morning, only to be told that my father's going to reach in like 1 hours time *_* In the end walked around City Square and got tempted to buy a lot of things. However in the end never buy anything haha... No money liao.

After that we went for lunch together. It has been so long since we had lunch together, plus the kuay teow is really yummy, lots of oysters. I love oysters, so YUM YUM. After lunch we went Tebrau City a.k.a. Jusco, walked around shopping for clothes and other things, then suddenly my brother said wanna go Red Box, so in we went! I sing sing and sing until my brother also cannot tahan... Super long never been in such a relaxing mood liao. Well, someone who doesn't really sing can sing until the sky falls when he decided to muahahahaha...

Around 7 we went to a restaurant for dinner :P Grandpa, grandma + a lot of people there. We talked and ate and talked and ate until everyone almost fainted. If only I don't have smoking cessation roadshow tomorrow, I'll follow them back and sleep in my bed for one night! Oh man I miss my bed... and my room!

Happy Birthday Alvin!

Haha for once I'm early to wish someone. Been super busy lately that I'm lazy to update my blog. Preceptorship's going on alright, just that I'm kinda feeling a bit tired over the lack of human interaction (I talk to less than 20 ppl per day). Somehow my preceptor's still very wary of me haha, maybe I just suck. Too bad.

Anyway, back to the topic, Alvin, welcome to the club! :P It has been a wonderful 15-years-long friendship with you. Hence, I decided you deserved a full post from me for your birthday haha. After all that we've been through all these years, I'm really grateful that you're always there looking out for me and supported me. If not for you I think I wouldn't even think of skipping my primary 4 to begin with. To be honest I've always seen you as my perfect model of how a student should be, minus off the give-yourself-too-much-stress part. It's good to rely on yourself to do your stuff, but sometimes do let other people share your burden. It's always less painful if you have other people going through difficulties with you, at least you'll know that you'll have someone that you can rely on if you get into deep trouble.

Haha now the post sounds like you're going somewhere far far away lol. I better stop here before someone accuses me of cursing you. Anyway, don't keep too much to yourself, you can always talk to me if there's any shit rolling down the hill of drop from the sky, I'll always lend you both my ears. Don't stress about results, I'm quite sure I'm worse off than you haha. Time to withdraw myself from this colourful world and become a hermit.

Last but not least, tell me when you're going to be back in BP again k? Meet up sometime soon! I missed all the talk cock sessions and driving around searching for food :P

Happy Birthday Mum!

Before the day is over... allow me to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!!!

Forgot I didn't make a blog entry about her birthday.... feel very bu siao now...

Going back early in the morning tomorrow (today?) to celebrate my mum's birthday. Really feel very bad for not calling home frequntly, maybe it's just guys... Anyway, God bless!

More about preceptorship

After almost 2 weeks of preceptorship at Watsons, I've come to the following conclusions:

1. Retail pharmacy is not my cup of tea.
2. Singaporeans ARE really busy...
3. People QUESTIONS.
4. Doing business is UGLY...
5. Ethics don't work unless there's people willing to follow it.
6. Unreasonable people will always be unreasonable.
7. Singapore's standard of service is still far from perfect.
8. Sales reps are not always eloquent and know a lot about their products.

Why do I come to such conclusions? Firstly, I really enjoy slacking, but not to the extent of doing nothing while I'm supposed to be working. Sitting around doing nothing during some of the time I'm in the store just irritates me. I think I'd prefer the hospital style where I'm getting summoned around the clock. (But I still want my meal breaks)

Next, people who walk in to retail pharmacies really don't wait until you finish your counselling before they start to walk off. Most of the time you finished your counselling just nice when they're already at the counter.

About the questioning, I think some people don't really trust the pharmacist per se. You tell them it's for dry cough then they'll stand there for 5 mins trying to read through the box to prove to you that you got it wrong...

About the ugly side of business, one thing I don't really like. Some company actually asked the preceptee to call other companies to check on prices... Come one, wanna check price send someone over to copy isn't it faster? Exploting students like that is plain wrong. Unless, of course, the student did that voluntarily.

About ethics... Nothing much to say, self explainatory.

Some people are really super unreasonable. They can come into your store and demand that you have something right there right now even when you don't have the stock or cannot give it to him. When they can't get what they want they'll just scream at you... More information can be found on CP's blog.

There this patient which came in with a prescription a few days ago and my preceptor told him we don't keep the POM that he's given by the doctor. He told us that it's the 5th pharmacy that he went to on that day to try to get the medicine. I wonder why the other pharmacies can't just try to help him find out whether their branches keep the drug of concern. My preceptor helped him though, but the nearest branch that has it is Taka, so... as usual the customer is going to be super pissed off, although he didn't scream at us, but his tone suggests that he's super dissapointed with the pharmacies in Singapore. Oh, did I forget to say that he's a foreigner? There goes our reputation. So in the future nobody respects pharmacists you know who to blame.

So far 2 drug reps came to my store to promote their products. First one is some lady who just popped in and started preaching to us how great her products are before even like introduce who she is... I bet she's new... The second one came in today, a guy. He come in and try to explain to us how great his products are, I'm alright with his lack of continuous phrases, but apparently he didn't know a lot about his product. When my preceptor asked him one question, he does what most NS guys do. Taiji. So in the end the question is not addressed. This totally ruined my impression on drug reps. I always see them as someone eloquent and know a lot about their products so that they can push the products. Alas, the reality is always different from our imagination.

One more thing, after 1 week of MIAing, finally my preceptor is able to come for work. Super long never see him liao, almost forget how he looks like. At least he's recovering, thank God for that.

First 3 days of preceptorship

After 3 days of preceptorship, finally I have time to blog about it.

On the first day, we had some sort like a briefing from the coordinator at SMU Watson's training room. The refreshment is nice :P Deli France sandwiches and something that looks like muffin. And they shifted me to Raffles City instead of the original Marina Square. Guess what? The change in schedule is because my preceptor's getting married and she's going for her honeymoon =_=! The first day was alright, but my preceptor is still in Malaysia attending some seminar. So, the pharmacist on duty, who are a year 6, took me and Andrew in. She's like soooo senior-like, didn't give me the impression that we're students and she's a "preceptor". Nothing very interesting happen on the first day... except you consider meeting the Operations Director face to face on the first day counts...totally didn't expected it, at least she has the i'm-a-super-high-ranking-person aura. That aside, Andrew and I got shocked when we found out that Kai Tong (the year 6 I'm talking about) got 1st class honors... Nearly fainted when I discovered it. I always have the impression that those super zai one likes to go hospital rather than retail.

For the second day, finally I met my preceptor, Toh Yen. He's a super nice guy, although I admit that I was a bit intimidated by him at first coz he looked like super stern when I first met him. Anyway, he taught us a lot regarding export sales, prescriptions, receiving of goods, some basic counseling points for cold and allergy, eye drops blah blah blah and a lot more. Basically the second day didn't do much also, bumming around reading the product inserts and shadowing him (literally) when he counsels. I dispense my first Zyrtec on the 2nd day! Yay! But seriously, dunno why, it's super tiring on the second day. I'm like fell asleep at 9.30pm.. Totally missed my QT, faints. Oh ya, it's Toh Yen's birthday on the second day, so the preceptorship coordinator came down to the store and treated all of us lunch :P YumYum.

Today, which is the third day, is a lot better. We started on checking the prices of all the OTC and P item manually as well as electronically to make sure all the prices are accurate. Raffles City is really full of people having cold. Our cold medicines are literally flying off the shelves. I saw one lady take panadol like free... Shocked when she just walked to the counter and sweep the whole lot of panadol into her basket... Some Caucasian guy walked in today for antibiotic, and our preceptor asked us to find out what's his indication for 1g per day for two days. In the end, we found out that it's for STD.... And that guy doesn't look like he got STD at all... except his face being super red, maybe from too much exposure to Singapore's sun. Managed to secretly do some OTC counseling when my preceptor went in to the office haha. Hopefully I'm qualified enough to counsel and make recommendations for patients soon. Had free lunch again today courtesy of Toh Yen :P YumYumYum KFC and Pizza Hut.

Tomorrow's my off day! At least I can have time to really sit down and try to read up on cold and allergy before Friday so that I can answer the question asked by the preceptor. I really thank God for arrangement of my preceptorship. Good preceptor + Friendly staff + Polite customers = Happy Chern Yih!

Finally, the long awaited freedom

After weeks of mugging and struggling with lecture notes, finally it's time to take a short break before engaging on more activities. Pharm Analysis is alright, just hope that what I answered is correct lol.

Preceptorship's starting next monday, somehow I have the feeling that I should pay my preceptor a visit before the whole program starts. Now I realised that 150 for 6 weeks is really not enough to cover anything at all. Just the amount I spent to buy shirts for this preceptorship totals up to more than 100 bucks le. Bad... Anyone got any quick money lobang?

I also realise that I lack a lot of skills that I wish I had. Really got to get down and start learning something. No point just knowing how to mug but don't care about the world... What to learn? Thinking of taking up guitar, but I've totally no music sense... although I think I have prefect pitch (is that what they call it to be?) Or maybe I should start learning how to invest in shares and bonds... I foresee some future econs module...

Starting next semester will be the mug till I die mode... I shall shut myself off away from the world and mug... Must get CAP 5 at least for one sem!

P.S. Happy Birthday Lun! May you get into dean's list lol

The End is Near!

Econs down, I think in the end still need to S/U it... Sien...

One more paper before the whole examination routine is completed. Eric Chan please be benevolent and gives questions that I know how to do...

Realised that I desperately need an organiser... time to think of getting a PDA phone... My schedules are in a mess... resulting in super a lot of overlapping appointments. That shows that my memory have failed me... Old liao...

I should be studying... 10 more chapters of Eric Chan's notes to go...*knocks head

Perseverance!

Perseverance is hmm... Void Stone + Ring of Health... Well, that's lame...

Really need more perseverance, I need the mana and hp regeneration badly. Emoed for quite some time after MicroB and I think someone thought I committed suicide... Don't worry, it didn't cross my mind, nor will it be in the near future. Just wanna to get away from all the worldly affairs for a moment. Sorry if I made the two of you worried...

Well then, I'm back on my feet again, or rather, I stopped Emoing. All the way for Pharm Anal and Econs!

P.S. Iron Man is nice, go watch it.

Disaster!

MicroB was a disaster to... I've not feel so hopeless during an exam paper before... Maybe my way of revision is totally wrong...

Anyway, I din emo for long... I remembered someone told me that retail therapy works, so does spending money! So... I went out and spent a lot of money...Alright, 170 bucks not a lot... But it's a lot for me...

Pharm Anal! Please don't be so difficult PLS!!!! *crosses fingers

Pharmaceutical Microbiology!

Less than a day to exams, but I'm feeling soooooooo hot that I can't concentrate on studying. So.... I was trying to complete my super long overdue strike freedom... I seem to like to fix my model kits during exam time.... Anyway, CP gave me this link which shows what your name means :P Initially I thought it's more for the Europeans rather than Asians. Somehow I'm interested on how they compute the results with just your name input. Super long analysis. And it's kinda accurate too. Try it out!

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

Pharm Prac DOWN!!!

Finally! No more pharm prac for at least another year... The paper, in my opinion, at least a bit better than pharmaco, just that 50 mcq questions for 70% weightage is too scary... hope that my recommendation is not wrong....

Next up, we have microbiology in less than 48 hours. Shall seriously mug like there's no tomorrow. I really need WISDOM!!!

Pharmacy Practice!

Less than 24 hours to Pharmacy Practice II paper, and I've totally lost the motivation to study the super thick notes. Guess what was I doing?

Morning and afternoon was the usual mugging and mugging and mugging. Thought I'm able to finish reading by dinner, but I was wrong. Wanted to finish up the rest in the evening, but well... got tempted again by my laptop.... So.... I was creating this uber cool custom theme for my PSP.

Playing with photoshop and the custom theme programme, I made my 1st PSP theme for my family!!! How cool can that be man... Like everytime I power up my PSP I can see my parents' face, serves as a reminder to me to play less and mug more! HAHA! Anyway wants me to help you create a customised PSP theme can tell me :)

My family members total up to 6. Just nice for the main icons :P

Pharmacology I

Less than 2 hours to the paper, and I'm already tired of mugging pharmacology... Persevere, 10 more days and it's over...

Lazy

I'm soooo lazy to start studying.... I should really give myself a tight slap to wake up. Accidentally completed both Jeanne d' Ark and Crisis Core before the start of this week, and I'm halfway through street supremacy... Cham liao.

Today's service is really super anointed, most of the time, a simple faith is all it takes to lead to salvation. I was like half crying halfway down the praying session.... Anyway, was rather surprised by the cell group at the end of the service. Thought Pauline will just say the usual few words then off for lunch. Dunno who divulged my date of birth... Cutting a long story short, they helped me celebrate my 21st birthday early. I'm rather touched, as I'm like just joined the cell group for less than a month lo. Almost cried on the spot again... Dunno why today feels like crying.... *Faints

Got this shirt from the cell group people, thanks peeps!

Gotta start my super mugger engine tomorrow (TODAY!), really couldn't get results like last semester again... But well, hope is always hope :P All I can do is to pray for success....and MUG LIKE SIAO.

I wanna be a happy man! Just like Rev. Dr. Kim Sunghae said this morning!\

P.S. Comments no longer require approval.

Mediocrity

What is mediocre? From dictionary.com, mediocre is " Moderate to inferior in quality; ordinary". Everyone likes to be excellent, but if there's excellence, there'll be mediocrity. We've knowingly entered the rat race of survival of the fittest.

Maybe, just maybe, I'm indulged in the world of mediocrity. Mediocre in expressions, mediocre in studies, mediocre in abilities, mediocre in appearances, mediocre in thinking, mediocre in actions.... and the list goes on.... Maybe subconsciously indulging in mediocrity makes one more willing to accept defeats, since nothing's going to be worse anyway. Alas, it makes one to give up on trying to climb to the top.

P.S. This is not an emo entry

Updates

After half a month of "hibernation" from blogging, here I am, once again to blog. It appears that I have a lot to blog about for the recent 2 weeks, but I shall not go into details of each and everyone of them.

My PSP is officially more than 2 weeks' old. So far, I'm quite satisfied with its performance, although I know that it's just slightly more powerful than the good old PS One. One full charge can allow me up to 4 hours of entertainment, sometimes even 5. Games currently in my PSP: Jeanne d' Ark, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Patapon, Disgaiea: Afternoon of Darkness, and Worms 2. I'm about to finish Jeanne d' Ark's storyline soon... That shows how much I play my PSP *_* I should really get down and do some serious work....

Bought a new trainer during Asics' warehouse sale on 4th April. For 60 bucks, it's a super good deal! Luckily I went at 12.30pm. The queue became longer and longer after that... We're still a bit late though, as the size of the model that KL wanted was sold out... and that's like 30 minutes after the start of the sale la! Thanks KL for footing the bill :P I think I have the tendency to let people pay for me lol.

My new running shoe!

Last friday, the NUSPS exco went for the appreciation dinner organised by PSS. Guess what the door gift was? A PSS tie for the gentlemen and a stalk of red rose for the ladies. The food was nice, but the highlight was definitely getting to know more pharmacists! Asked some of the pharmacists regarding preceptorship in hospitals and community pharmacies. The guy from Watson was like so young.... around 28 years old nia, but he definitely looks younger than that... and the lady from SGH like super zai... I can feel the world closing in on me just by speaking to her for 5 minutes...

The PSS tie and mug

Today also marks the last quiz of MicroB SDL. So far so good, since I don't know exactly what I'm answering anyway. Incoming Pharmacology term test 2 and monograph quiz 3 on wednesday, I'll need a lot of luck, as usual, so that I won't mop the floor again.

Being not offered accommodation in campus for the next semester, I'm in deep trouble... Anyone who has contact for rooms/apartment rental do tell me :P

PSP!!!

After camping for the silver colour PSP for 2 weeks, finally I got it :P And it's sponsored!!! Yay! Thanks to 大姐 and 二姐 :P

Freshly out of box!!!

Long Overdue Project

Proudly presenting, the long overdue work of .... GP01. Alright, this BB Gundam has been long overdue since I said I wanted to complete it within the week I got it from KL. Anyway, with all the tests and monographing to do, I finally finished it last night (with panel lining). Not sure how to pose it though.. The picture above looks like it's gonna cry. Totally the feeling I'm having now lol. Here's the "with flash" version to better evaluate the panel lines. (My panel lining still quite bad...-_________-!!!)

Glucerna

Today I shall introduce Glucerna SR. It's a slow release carbohydrate formula targeted at diabetic patients. Recommended as a breakfast drink, snack or meal replacement. Since Joyce Lee managed to get us a free sample each, I tried the preparation (or rather, the "snack") for my breakfast this morning. To my surprise, it's not that bad tasting after all. You'll get a super strong vanilla smell when you open the sachet. One thing to note is, you actually need quite some time to stir as the powder doesn't dissolve very readily and it looks like it's going to reach its saturation point when you pour the powder to the 200ml of water as directed.

Taste wise, I really like vanilla, so it's kind of taste good for me. Just that maybe I didn't stir enough, it tasted a bit powdery. But I do agree that I don't think I'll want to take it long term as I foresee myself getting tired of the taste after 1 month of drinking it. Raymond says the thing tasted horrible but I beg to differ haha. If ever I need to take it chronically, I'll make sure I get all the flavors and alternate them every meal.

Rain

It's raining cats and dogs in the early evening... and guess what did I found when I came back to my room? Flooded laptop.... Luckily nothing bad happened to it.... otherwise.... see you people again in my next life....

Easter

Just came back from the Easter drama by City Harvest Church. It's entitled, I-Ming. Basically it's talking about an invention which allows one to explore their lives once again, which eventually leads to the story of crucification of Christ. Ok I'm super bad at narrating... Speaking from the technical side, the props and mechanisms as well as the choreographing is superb. Really got nothing to complain about it. If we can make at least half the mechanisms from there enough to win faculty best float le...

Before I move on to a more sensitive and serious stuff, I shall put a disclaimer
"The following statements are not meant to undermine anybody or anything and should be treated purely as a logic thinking. Any offensive remarks/statements are due to the writer's poor library of vocabularies"

Since I'm on the topic of easter, I shall talk a bit about Christianity. From the drama session, at least I know I'm not the "minority" non-Christian around in the hall. Inferring from the senior pastor, I think I should be in the second group, since I attend churches when I'm much much younger (e.g. primary school). Maybe it's the education I received, or maybe it's due to my nature, I tend to think about things more scientifically, or in a sense, "logically", or can be called evidence based too. To me, I will tend more towards Confucianism, which neither a religion not a cult. It's more like a way of thinking. In a way, Christianity is in line with my principle of life and way of thinking, but I would say that it's more towards the way I was brought up, or maybe it's a mixture of different influences and environments. As the saying goes: : "一种米养百种人", that may be why I am who I am today. To me, religion is a belief, it's whether you think it is a right thing to follow, and whether it's in line with your own principles. However, we will have different interpretations of a same thing. Something that is sweet to me may be sour to another person. That's the reason why there are conflicts between religion... but I'm quite sure that there are no religion that advocate war... People who knows me well will know that I'm actually quite open towards religion, maybe that's why I'm still without religion. As I've said earlier, I tend more towards my principle of living, doing the right thing at the right time, which is, easier to be said than done.

Now even I myself don't understand what I've written on top... Good luck interpreting.... On a side note, guess what the picture below is/where is this picture taken.

Leap Year

Ok I shall blog about something before the end of February 29th which happens every 4 years... Maybe I should just plagiarise the history of the leap years to begin with.

A leap year (or intercalary year) is a year containing one or more extra days (or, in the case of lunisolar calendars, an extra month) in order to keep the calendar year synchronised with the astronomical or seasonal year. For example, in the Gregorian calender, February would have 29 days in a leap year instead of the usual 28. Because seasons and astronomical events do not repeat at an exact number of full days, a calendar which had the same number of days in each year would, over time, drift with respect to the event it was supposed to track. By occasionally inserting (or intercalating) an additional day or month into the year, the drift can be corrected. A year which is not a leap year is called a common year. - Wikipedia

My town looks deserted today, dunno why also. Maybe it's because of the association of Feb 29th with something nasty or zombies are coming out tonight... Anyway, I'm still struggling to finish the pharmacy practice monographs... Read through all 38 of them but cannot remember any except Cimetidine and Ranitidine... reason being I'm doing Famotidine...Nevermind, hopefully it'll get better. Maybe I should really do something crazy before the end of today like jump off the second floor of my house or something...

IBM YEA Prize Presentation

After waiting for more than 2 months, today is the day! The picture above is taken before we made the final sharing presentation and before the result is announced. Wanted to imitate the 5 people in the banner but failed miserably...

Anyway, I'd say that the sharing session is very useful, at least we know what the other teams did and gauge roughly where we are before we look at the result. But then.... we actually accidentally saw the result when we are making the preparation... The organiser just put her schedule on the table with the result o.O

So, here comes the result! We're quite disappointed for not able to emerge as first, but then I guess first runner-up is as good ba. Although the prize money decreases by 2000 dollars T_T

The cheque is like how big la... I feel like winning some lucky draw of sort... like those kind in Wheel of Fortune or something.

Well, at least we still have something to use haha. The team who got first is really zai lo. If I say the team who got third and us thinks out of the box, they really think without the box.... (quoted from their presentation) And the ironic thing is, they're all guys team from HCI! My team got 1 girl, and the 2nd runner-up is an all girls team... Sounds a bit sexist right? I'm neutral, just to clarify before all of you hammer me. :P For the result, the all guys team managed to sell 115 copies of Tivoli CDP, my team 102 copies and the girls team 78 copies (hopefully I didn't get it wrong). Lose by a bit only lo, but then somehow I got the feeling we got trashed during the final presentation, although they told us it's actually a very close fight between us and the guys' team.

I've learnt much throughout the whole competition, at least I know I don't like to do call calling. I'm better off doing management and nagging (that's what a pharmacist is supposed to do...lol). Cheers!

Chinese New Year Reflection

Alright I realised I didn't blog about my CNY, so here it is. Went back to BP on 5th Feb, and I actually consider myself quite lucky for being able to get a bus ticket back like 1 week before CNY ... Anyway, met up with my old secondary school friends and went out for some tea drinking sessions before new year's eve. As usual, new year's eve I have to go back to JB for reunion dinner. The 1st day I follow my parents around in JB to visit relatives. 2nd day I went out with Alvin and gang to cheat ang pou from friends :P Was feeling quite sad when I need to return to Singapore on the 3rd day to prepare for the bazaar... Why can't CNY last a little bit longer? I still haven't visit a lot of people like Mdm Teng, Mr Tan, etc... We had a recreational mahjong session at my house on the 1st night as well as the 2nd night, just that we used the super small mahjong on the 1st night and the regular ones on the 2nd night. Thinking of how everyone is having tests and quizzes now, I'm also feeling the stress.... Term tests and quizzes coming in less than 2 weeks time!!!
Here's the picture we took at my house. Too bad most of the people e.g. Peng Ji, Pei Lu, Chee dll. not in the picture...

Mid term break prelude

I can't believe I'm writing two posts in one day... Anyway, mid-term break is coming up, and I'm still contemplating whether I should spend some time relaxing and do a bit of travelling. With all the term tests coming up, I seriously doubt my ability to juggle between studies and personal time. Maybe it's time to really sit down and think of what I wanted for the future.

Updates

After so long of not updating about the status of my strike freedom, here I am again to keep you guys up to date to the progress of my MG strike freedom. Actually I've completed one of the legs since Jan 20th, just that I don't have time to update my blog due to bazaar matters. Anyway, here's one of the legs. And it's sole...
Besides that, KL gave me a SD GP01 Fb Gundam as a Vday gift, thanks KL! I think it's not nice for me not to move it up my building list. So, I tried to complete it tonight. However, I realised that I've becoming slower in assembling a SD gundam due to my obsession of lining everything I can see... Managed to finish the head only.

Here's the front of the head, cute right? And the back of its head

Anyway, I'm not one that scrutinises every single line that I draw. Although you probably can see the unevenness of the lines as well as the smudges here and there. I'll try to finish this kit whenever I can though, especially with the mid-term break coming. Hopefully I'm not too caught up in mugging for mid-term tests and quizzes.

Bazaar

After a few days of hectic schedules and scratching of head, finally the bazaar has come to an end. The 3 days are tiring, but at least it's fulfilling. Now that I've missed 3 days of school, the weekend is going to be another hectic marathon of webcasts and recorded lectures. Well, what to do. Too many things to do and too little time to do it.

We're quite lucky that this year's Valentine's Day's sales is not as bad as last year's. At least I'm able to recover more than half of the capital for the bazaar just for today alone. As predicted, we made a loss for the auction, but then at least we've tried. Maybe it'll be better if the publicity efforts are done way way before the bazaar itself. Haih, I overlooked that part due to CNY...

Words are powerful weapon... not that I just realised it, just that I just can't seem to control what comes out of my mouth some times and tend to be super insensitive to other people. Should really filter what I'm going to say through my brain before saying anything in the future... To anyone whom I've offended before, I apologize.

FTIR

After so many complaints about me not updating my blog, here am I again trying to populate it with words. Anyway, had the only lab for today, Pharm Analysis lab. We're playing with FTIR. For the benefit of those who haven't do the experiment yet, it means Fourier Transform Infra Red spectroscopy. What it actually does is it shines infra red light across your sample, and the absorbance by your sample is recorder, in the form of IR transmittance. Anyway, we're taught how to prepare a Nujol mull as well as potassium bromide disk of the "unknown" sample, which turns out to be paracetamol. Do take note that we're not supposed to use Nujol mull when we're testing for paracetamol as they have similar absorbance peaks. We're using paracetamol this time round as it's for demonstration purpose only.

Anyway, here's the potassium bromide disk that I made.

The disk is the one I'm holding. LOL

More and more work pilling up, SOAP, sponsorship calls, lab reports, bazaar matters, tutorials etc. Luckily Chinese New Year is coming soon, and mid semester break two weeks after that :P

2008!

Welcoming new year, let me recap some of the stuff that I've been working on since the last time I updated my blog. Starting from December 10th, I've embarked on a journey together with Kelvin, Tiang Lim, Ivan, Jorina, Kong Jien, and Stanley into a marketing competition organised by IBM. I didn't know that it'll be this tiring when I accepted Kelvin's invitation to help him for the competition back in November. Well, I'd say that it's a fruitful learning experience, as most probably I wouldn't be in the sales line unless I got kicked out of pharmacy :P From the competition, I've learnt to adapt to changes as quickly as possible. Holding on to one's beliefs is important.

First week's sales are discouraging, but thankfully we managed to change our strategy quite quickly, allowing us to have more space for growth. Second week is decent, while there's only one word to describe the third week: Great! It must've been the experience that we've gained along the way. Level up!!! Nonetheless, positive competition within the group as well as with other competitors is a good push for us to achieve greater heights. Now there's presentation left to go on 8th January. Wish me luck ok?

Yesterday marks the last day of the actual sales competition, so I decided to follow Tiang Lim, Jung Seong, Su San, Yean Ching, and Stanley to Brewerks for the countdown. I couldn't believe that we actually finished two beer towers of 4 liters each. It's even more shocking when I see the bill at the end of the day. Well, it's the new year, spend a little bit more also nevermind :P Just that the fireworks for the new year was blocked by the stupid building. Not that I have someone to watch fireworks with me anyway. LOL

Moving on to new year resolution, I should study more and play less in order for me to increase my CAP point. I want to get a CAP 5.0 for at least a semester throughout my life in NUS!!! Please note that I'm untouchable after this year's rag. Operation CAP 5 in progress.

Alright, that's a lot of nonsense and dream. I wish everyone a happy new year. Let bygones be bygones and move into the new year with new resolution. Hopefully by the end of the year everyone will achieve their goals!
